ACCORDING TO AHARON ADIBEKIAN, 67% VOTERS IN REGIONS WILL VOTE FOR SERGE SARGSIAN

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, NOYAN TAPAN. According to the preelection survey
held on January 25-27 by the Sociometer sociological center in the
RA regions, 67% voters are ready to vote for Prime Minister Serge
Sargsian. Aharon Adibekian, the Head of the center, said at the
January 31 press conference.
According to the data published by him, 9% voters will vote for Artur
Baghdasarian, the Chairman of the Orinats Yerkir (Country of Law)
party, 6% for Levon Ter-Petrosian, the first RA President, 3% for Vahan
Hovhannisian, a member of the ARFD Bureau, 2% for Artashes Geghamian,
the Chairman of the National Unity party, 1.5% for Vazgen Manukian,
the Chairman of the National Democratic Union party.
Three candidates, Tigran Karapetian, the Chairman of the People’s
Party, Aram Haroutiunian, the Chairman of the National Consent party,
and non-partisan Arman Melikian taken together have received approval
of 0.7% voters. According to A. Adibekian, the number of voters, who
have not decided yet for whom to vote, made 10.5% of the respondents.
A. Adibekian also said that the survey held in the regions was
ordered by two forces, one of which is S. Sargsian’s preelection
headquarters. A. Adibekian preferred not to publicize the name of
the other. According to him, Sociometer will hold a similar survey
in Yerevan on February 1-3.
According to A. Adibekian, the data published by him cannot orient or
disorient the voters, as "Sociometer’s image has a zero influence on
the people." In response to the question "And do you yourself believe
the results of the surveys conducted by you?" A. Adibekian said:
"Sociology is not religion to believe it or not: you can just accept
sociological data or not."
