ARMENIA’S ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE TO BE RENOVATED BY 2012

YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s road infrastructure will
be completely renovated by 2012, RA Minister of Transport and
Communication Andranik Manukyan stated at the Parliament’s sitting.
Íe also reported that road marking and installation of safety fences is
to be brought to conformity with international standards by that time.
Manukyan pointed out that the Government is currently funding a number
of road construction programs as well as attracting credits for the
implementation of the programs. The Minister pointed out that active
renovation got under way in 2000.
"At present, the roads under the authority of the Ministry of Transport
and Communication have been put in order and are properly functioning
even during snowfall," the Minister said.
Ìanukyan stressed that a good condition of roads is the main
guarantee of Armenia’s stable economic and agricultural development
thus affording an opportunity for entering the market to Armenia’s
farmers.
