ANC Federal Town Hall Meeting Slated For April

Los Angeles, CA – The Armenian National Committee – Western Region
(ANC-WR) shall host a Federal Town Hall meeting on Saturday, April 5,
2008. The gathering will draw together Members of Congress and
Armenian American community advocates to discuss major Armenian issues
pending in the second session of the 110th Congress. The ANC-WR
Federal Town Hall briefing will be held at the Sheraton Universal
hotel from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"We are excited to host a town hall meeting featuring leading Members
of Congress," commented ANC-WR Board Member Aida Dimejian. "The 110th
Congress has tackled issues impacting our community. From the passage
of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the House Foreign Affairs
Committee last October to our drive to obtain Millennium Challenge
Account funds to build new roads and water projects in Armenia, our
agenda for the next 11 months is exciting. I strongly encourage all
Armenian Americans who are interested in public policy to attend our
town hall meeting," Dimejian added.

The Federal Town Hall Meeting will focus on increasing participation
of community activists in the civic process and building awareness of
initiatives, such as the Millennium Challenge Account and Armenian
Genocide resolutions, that relate closely to Armenian Americans and
Armenia. Furthermore, Members of Congress will share, with
participants, their impressions, experiences and thoughts regarding
working with the community and their role as elected officials in
representing the concerns of their constituents.

Individuals interested in attending the ANC-WR Federal Town Hall
meeting are encouraged to RSVP by calling ANC-WR Programs Coordinator
Teresa Petrosyan at 818 500 1918.

The Armenian National Committee – Western Region is the largest and
most influential Armenian American grassroots advocacy organization in
the Western United States. Working in coordination with a network of
offices, chapters, and supporters throughout the Western United States
and affiliated organizations around the country, the ANC-WR advances
the concerns of the Armenian American community on a broad range of
issues.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
