The Malta International Football Tournament 2008 is drawing to an
end. The Armenian football team competes with Iceland on February 6.

To remind, Armenia beat its contenders at the first two meetings and
Iceland lost to its rivals.

Nevertheless, bookmakers fixed 2.50 coefficient in case any of the
two countries wins.

Armenia faces a serious ordeal as leading footballers of the team
Ararat Arakelian and Samvel Melkonian have been transferred to
"Metalurg," Donetsk.

Three other footballers will miss today’s match.

Alexander Tadevossian was disqualified during the Armenia-Belarus
meeting. Goal-keeper Roman Berezovski and half-back Romik Khachatrian
have serious injuries.

To note, if the Armenian team wins the match, it will set a new record
winning three recurrent matches.

The two teams have held two meetings. The fisrt meeting took place at
Hrazdan Stadium, Yerevan, in the October of 1998. The meeting ended
in a tie. In 1999 Iceland beat Armenia 2:0 during the return match
held in Reykjavik.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
