YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 11, NOYAN TAPAN. According to the RA Electoral Code,
it is prohibited to publicize the results of the sociological surveys
on ratings of the candidates and political forces nominated in the
elections within 7 days preceding the voting day up to the official
end of voting inclusive.
According to it, in the forthcoming presidential elections this
prohibition will work from February 12 to February 19, 20:00.
Though the Electoral Code stipulates that the violation of this
provision leads to liability, no concrete punishment is envisaged
for the above mentioned act by the RA legislation. Publishing the
results of the sociological survey in the prohibited period will be
considered as a violation of the established order of preelection
agitation, for which according to Article 40.1 of the RA Electoral
Code of Administrative Offences, a fine of 200 000 – 500 000 drams
(nearly 1600 USD) is envisaged.
