ARMENIAN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE ISSUES STATEMENT ON PRE-ELECTION INCIDENTS

The Prosecutor-General’s Office press service has issued a statement
on incidents that have occurred during the pre-election period. In
particular, an unidentified person, violating public order and showing
blatant disrespect towards the public, posted flyers containing
profanity on the walls of residential buildings in the town of Martuni
at around 1000 [0600 gmt] today. The local police division in Martuni
has launched a criminal case.

The statement also says that an unidentified person at around 1100
[0500 gmt] set fire to the door of presidential candidate Serzh
Sargsyan’s election campaign office located at 12 Azatutyan Avenue
in Yerevan, causing significant damage to property.

In the early hours of 10 February, an unidentified person broke a
window and threw a container with flammable liquid into Sargsyan’s
election campaign office located in Haghtanak district in Yerevan.

Some of the property was damaged by the fire. Criminal cases have
