ABOUT 50,000 RALLY IN ARMENIAN CAPITAL TO SUPPORT EX-PRESIDENT

Yerevan, 16 February: Another rally, attended by thousands of
supporters of the first Armenian president andpresidential candidate,
Levon Ter-Petrosyan, started on Freedom Square [outside the Opera
Theatre] at 1510 [1110 gmt]today.
According to an Arminfo correspondent, about 50,000 people are
participating in the rally. Supporters of the firstpresident are
continuing to gather on Freedom Square.
The leaders of political parties who expressed support for
Ter-Petrosyan in the forthcoming presidential electionsahead of the
election campaign, as well as those who joined him during the election
campaign are also standing on therostrum.
The rally is being conducted by Nikol Pashinyan, the editor-in-chief
of the opposition daily Haykakan Zhamanak.
