ANKARA – TDN with wire dispatches
New inspectors have been assigned to prepare a report on the work
carried out by police and gendarmerie forces to this day on the murder
of prominent Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, interior ministry
sources said, the private NTV channel reported yesterday.
Among newly assigned officials are two Interior Ministry inspectors
and a police inspector who is at the rank of a first rank police chief.
The report will be presented to Interior Minister Beºir Atalay.
Inspectors and experts will work in Istanbul and the Black Sea province
of Trabzon.
Dink was shot to death in front of the building of the multi-lingual
weekly Agos in Istanbul, of which he was editor-in-chief.
The suspected murderer of Dink and the suspected inciters are from
Trabzon. The officials will examine the work of police on the motives
for the murder and claims of negligence on the part of police and
gendarmerie forces, as well as whether the expert investigations were
carried out appropriately.
