ArmInfo. The City Hall of Yerevan came out with a statement addressed
to the participants in the protest action at Liberty Square, Monday.

According to the statement sent to ArmInfo by the City Hall of
Yerevan, the protest action at Liberty Square has been held for 5
days without a relevant permit. The protest action "violates the law
on holding meetings, rallies, demonstrations and processions". These
activities break the natural course of life in Yerevan, cause traffic
jams and make the central streets, squares and crossroads of the
city impassable, hindering the traffic and violating the citizens’
rights to free movement.

An unsanitary situation has arisen in the places of these
activities. The rules of keeping silence stipulated by the law are
not observed at Liberty Square at night, the rest of the citizens
living in the adjacent buildings is disturbed. This causes their fair
discontent. Thousands of citizens apply to the City Hall and express
their concern and indignation. "Acknowledging the current situation
inadmissible, the City Hall of Yerevan appeals to the organizers and
participants in the protest action at Liberty Square to stop holding
unsanctioned rallies, sit-down strikes, demonstrations and processions,
not to hinder the trouble-free traffic and not to violate the citizens’
right to free movement, not to disturb the rest of the residents of
Yerevan and to restore the normal course of life in the capital of
Armenia", the statement says.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
