Secretary of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia
Abram Bakhchagulyan stated in Yerevan today that the vote recount,
held in 135 polling stations, did not affect the final outcome of
the elections.

Abram Bakhchagulyan said that when on February 24 CEC publicized
the final results of the presidential elections, it acted within the
framework of law.

According to him, by 14:00 of February 24, the data of all the
protocols from 1,923 polling stations were included in the central
server of CEC, and "there was no sense in delaying the process."

CEC Secretary refuted the statements of the proxies of presidential
candidate Levon Ter-Petrosyan, according to which they presented 300
complaints, while the Commission considered only 2 of them.

Abram Bakhchagulyan informed that after the elections, the Commission
received 170 complaints, 135 of which were considered, and 24 are in
the process of consideration.

The CEC Secretary informed that yesterday the Commission received a
letter from Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s the representatives with the request
to nullify the results of the elections, which will be considered
within coming five days.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
