NEW OSCE OFFICE OPENS IN BAKU

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February / Trend News corr. K.Ramazanova / The
new OSCE office in Baku will play a key role to establish relations
between the State and the public in Azerbaijan, Ilkka Kanerva,
the OSCE acting chairman, stated to journalists during the opening
ceremony of the OSCE new office in Baku, Trend News reported.

"The new office will promote activate discussions around the
democratic process, ecology and other issues involving the public,"
Kanerva stated.

Araz Azimov, the deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, said that the
visit of the OSCE acting chairman to the country was very significant
for the current difficult situation in the region. " Azerbaijan rests
huge hopes on OSCE," he said. The settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict is the most relevant issue for Azerbaijan, Azimov said.

The OSCE Baku office has been functioning for 8 years and is located
in the Landmark Business Centre.
