63 MLN AMD FINES IMPOSED ON ARMENIA’S ECONOMIC ENTITIES FOR VIOLATING FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS IN 2007

YEREVAN, March 12. /ARKA/. In 2007, 63mln AMD fines were imposed on
Armenia’s economic entities for violating food safety standards.

Head of the RA Veterinary and Food Safety Inspectorate, RA Ministry of
Agriculture, Grisha Batyan reported that the inspections involved 1,300
economic entities, and only 16 of them did not commit any violations.

"Our task is not fining, but getting all food products safe,"
Batyan said.

He pointed out that 140 to 150 inspections were conducted throughout
the country once every ten days, with 50% of them in Yerevan.

The RA Veterinary and Food Safety Inspectorate has been conducting
inspections since last year.
