"Aram’s Diary", a novel dedicated to the Armenian Genocide, by the
renowned Catalonian writer Maria Anjels Anglada has been recently
published in Armenian. The publication of the book was funded by the
Government of Armenia. The translation was made by Grigor Janikian.

The presentation of the Armenian interpretation of the novel took
place yesterday at the Committee for Foreign Cultural Relationships
and was organized by the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Armenia.

Grigor Janikian, the translator said that the publication of the
book in Armenian is a remarkable event, as Anglada is one of the
most remarkable authors in the history of Catalonian literature. He
dedicated the last years of his life to the accomplishment of this
work and unfortunately passed away shortly before its translation
into Armenian.

Grigor Janikian highly appreciated the participation of the children
and the closest friends of Anglada in the presentation of the Armenian
translation of the novel.

"Aram’s Diary" represents the causes and the consequences of the
Armenian Genocide and provides a thorough analysis of the events. A
number of Catalonian deputies, inspired by the novel, demanded the
Spanish Parliament to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

According to Janikian, the novel is based upon a diary, found by the
author in Greece. Having learned about the contents of the diary,
Anglada started studying it and finally wrote the novel.
