Armenia is ready for the peaceful resolution of Nagorno Karabakh
conflict in the framework of OSCE Minsk Group and on basis of the
document which is on the negotiation table, said Serzh Sarkissyan,
newly elected president of Armenia, in Bucharest.
The press service for Armenian government reported that during
Sarkissyan’s meeting with Andjzey Kaspshik, personal representative of
the OSCE chairman-in-office, and OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs the sides
gave an overall assessment to the situation, currently established
around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
The co-chairs presented results of the meeting with President
of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, S.Sarkissyan voiced concern over the
diplomatic steps of Azerbaijan and events which occurred on the contact
front line of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Nagorno Karabakh.
According to Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan, Azerbaijan
tries to dismiss the OSCE Minsk Group and transfer the conflict under
the UN control.
During the next meeting with reporters, Armenia’s newly elected
president noted that he will express more exact impressions from
the process, when he has a chance to meet with the opposite side of
the talks.
Sarkissyan noted that the co-chairs are optimistic and added that
they have all ground for it. Asked when the meeting with President
of Azerbaijan will be possible, he repeated that he is not against
the meeting in the framework of any conference if the opposite side
express its will to it.
Following the meeting, Sarkissyan left to the Romanian parliament
and took part in discussions on the level of the heads of the
member-sates of the Council of Euroatlantic partnership on the topic
of "Euroatlantic partnership: resistance to challenges of the 21st
century".
