YEREVAN MUNICIPALITY TARGETS AMD 35.5 BILLION FOR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC AREAS AT 1ST Q 2008

YEREVAN, April 7. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Yervand Zakharyan, speaking
Monday at a press conference, said the city authorities spent AMD
35.5 billion for social and economic areas at the 1st quarter 2008
instead of planned 35.3 billion.
The mayor said that AMD 22.1 billion of this amount was taken from
the state budget and social payments, 944.3 million was targeted
for city expenses, 967 million was injected by communities and 11.4
billion came from other financing sources.
He said that the social and economic program worth AMD 93 billion
will be implemented in Yerevan in 2008.
This amount is 20% greater than that of the previous year. Zakharyan
also said that another 5 billion is planned to be earmarked for that
purpose under an additional program. He said that greater money will
be targeted for architecture and urban planning as well as education
and healthcare under the additional program.
About AMD 94.6 billion was spent in 2007 for social and economic
programs implementation in Yerevan instead of planned 86.7 billion. ($1
