SERJ SARKISYAN’S INAUGURATION WAS ACCOMPANIED BY PROTEST ACTIONS IN ARMENIA

Iravan -APA. Serj Sarkisyan was inaugurated on Wednesday as a president
of Armenia at the ceremony in Iravan Opera and Ballet Theater. APA
quotes Armenian web-sites, Sarkisyan, 54, took an oath with his hand
on the Bible and the Armenian constitution.

Representatives from 58 countries and 12 international organizations
attended the ceremony. Russian delegation was headed by State Duma’s
speaker Boris Grizlov and US delegation by the Assistant Secretary
of State Matthew Bryza. Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze and
Iranian Minister of Energy Parviz Fattah were also among the guests.

Following the inauguration Serj Sarkisyan watched military parade in
the Liberty square.

In parallel, opposition held unscheduled protest action near the
French Embassy, where bloody events took place on March 1-2.

Thousands of people gathered in front of the Alexander Myasnikyan’s
monument to mark 40 days of mourning on the victims of March 1
events. Despite police couldn’t prevent spontaneous meeting of the
opposition. Participants of the protest action chanted anti-government
slogans and expressed support to Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
