"If transmission of an Azerbaijani TV channel starts in Russia,
other countries will put similar demands.
This seems unreal".
The due announcement was made by Mikhail Zabelin, head of the Russian
community of Azerbaijan and member of parliament, at a joint press
conference with the vice president of the All-Russian Azerbaijani
congress Afrand Dadashev.
He said the country which needs the TV channel transmission more
should make concessions.
"Azerbaijan needs this more. I think the problems of Azerbaijani
television are not on the level of being transmitted abroad. They
can be perceived with humor in Russia.
He added that the members of the Baku team of the Club of the cheerful
and sharp-witted were offered to conduct a program at Russian TV, but
the proposal was not accepted. At the same time, Armenian parodist
accepted such a proposal and now conducts a program at one of the
leading Russian TV channels.
Afrand Dadashev, in turn, noted that Azerbaijan should not reject
foreign languages, especially Russian language, in the globalizing
world.
"How can we reject it, if we had lived within Russia for 200 years? I
do not consider Russian as a foreign language".
