RUSE, APRIL 17, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The city council of
Ruse (Bulgaria) adopted a special resolution on recognition of the
fact of the Armenian Genocide, Cihan news agency reported.

So Ruse has become the 4th Bulgarian city (after Burgas, Plovdiv and
Stara Zagora) to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

To recap, last month the city council of Sophia postponed adoption of
a resolution on th Armenian Genocide. According to the Turkish press,
the Bulgarian government prevented discussions on adoption of the
Armenian bill.

Arguing that such a step may harm Turkish-Bulgarian relations, the
government prevented discussion of the bill during the visit of the
Turkish prim minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Bulgaria.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
