Azerbaijan, Fuzuli, 18 April / corr TrendNews A.Ismayilova / Azerbaijan
have refuted accusations that there is no democracy within the country,
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in a public meeting in
Fuzuli District of Azerbaijan on 18 April.
"How can countries which defend democracy and consider themselves as
symbols of democracy close their eyes to the cruelty against civilians
in Armenia and the deaths of tens of people. However, whenever any
minor action of provocation occurs in Azerbaijan, all these countries
make inappropriate statements, interfering into Azerbaijan’s internal
affairs, while their press publish material urging for the suppression
of democracy in Azerbaijan," the President stated.
He said that Azerbaijan has no intention to reconcile with double
standards and regards such accusations as unfair. The President
commented on its struggle for power in the region, whilst stressing
that Azerbaijan has no intention to be under anyone’s authority.
