SHUSHI: GARLAND OF VOLUNTARIES’ STRUGGLE

-Shushi was the culmination of the first part of our
war, I would say the garland of voluntaries’
struggle,- once said Vazgen Sargsyan talking about
Shushi liberation. It was sixteen years before when
the glorious morning of our victory revealed to the
Armenians. It was not by chance that it was May – the
month of our victories. In May 9, 1992 Shushi castle
was liberated.

Edward Gasparyan, Artsakh war participant answered
Panorama.am reporter’s question about the war time
recollections. -We were not feeling hunger, cold; the
only think torturing our souls was homesickness. But
even that lasted little as we had a mission – to fight
the enemy,- said Gasparyan. But he said that the
kochari (Armenian dance) they danced at night of
victory was the most powerful moment, when they all
-were dancing with tears on the eyes till the
morning-.

We have reached that glorious victory due to thousands
Armenians who died in the battles of war. By their
death of conscious they have given eternity to the
Armenian nation. Glory and honor to all of them.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
