The pop singer Dima Bilan gave to Russia its first victory at the Eurovision
contest at its 53rd edition Saturday in Belgrade with his song developed by
US R&B star Timbaland "Believe", ahead of Ukraine and Greece.
Russia, which was among the favorites, has clearly benefited from votes in
several countries of the former Soviet Union. with a total of 272 points ahead
of Ukraine (230) and Greece (218) represented by the energetic Ani Lorak and
Kalomira.

The Russian president Dmitri Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin
congratulated Sunday the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Dima Bilan,
considering his victory as a "triumph" for Russia.

In Saturday Armenia is the fourth place, Serbia, the host country, sixth and
Azerbaijan, a newcomer to the competition, took the eighth place.

Bosnia-Herzegovina and Sweden who were among the favourites, could
respectively finished in the 10th and 18th place.
