Greece held 0-0 by Armenia in last friendly ahead of Euro 2008
The Associated PressPublished: June 1, 2008
OFFENBACH, Germany: Armenia held Greece to a 0-0 draw Sunday in the
defending champion’s final warm-up game ahead of the European
Championship.
The Greeks dominated for large spells of the game but rarely posed a
threat to Armenia goalkeeper Gevorg Kasparov.
Angelos Charisteas had a good chance in the 37th minute when Kasparov
dropped the ball, but the Nurenberg striker failed to get a shot off
before the ball rolled out of play.
Costas Katsouranis tried to break the deadlock with a long-range shot
in the 88th, but it was well saved by Kasparov.
Greece opens play at Euro 2008 against Sweden on June 10, before
taking on Russia and Spain in Group D.
Greece beat Cyprus 2-0 and lost 3-2 against Hungary in its other two
pre-tournament friendlies.
