ArmInfo. The Armenian party did not have serious defeat in the Karabakh
settlement talks over the last 10 years, the leader of the National
and Democratic Party Shavarsh Kocharyan said at the press-conference
in Hayatsk club, Monday.

He also added that Azerbaijani propaganda machine gained certain
success mainly thanks to passiveness of the Armenian party. But
the last meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents in St
Petersburg and their meetings with the OSCE MG co-chairs showed
that the attempts of Azerbaijan to transfer the talks to UN format,
demarche regarding the OSCE Minsk Group, the militaristic statements
and all the rest efforts to turn the scale to their success were in
vain. The talks are being held on the basis of the Madrid principles
in the OSCE MG format, Shavarsh Kocharyan said.

Political expert Levon Melik-Shakhnazaryan said for his part no
inch of the Armenian land has been lost over the last ten years,
Nagornyy Karabakh lives in peace and is developing and peace and
stability is preserved in the region, which is very much important
for international intermediaries. As for the settlement prospects,
until the parties to the conflict still have absolutely contradictory
approaches, the talks will be of the imitation nature and the Karabakh
conflict be like all conflicts of the world frozen for many years.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
