CRIMINAL PROSECUTION OF 21 PERSONS UNDER CASE ON MARCH 1 EVENTS TERMINATED

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The criminal prosecution of Suren
Sureniants, Yerjanik Abgarian, Levon Davtian, Norayr Norikian and
another 17 persons under the criminal case opened in connection
with the March 1 events in Yerevan has been terminated and their
criminal case has been quashed, the press service of the RA prosecutor
general’s office informed, noting that this decision was made due to
repentance of the indicated persons, the changed situation and the
lack of evidence.

Within the framework of the case investigated by the RA Special
Investigation Service, as of June 13, 24 accused persons are under
preliminary arrest, a precautionary measure not related to arrest
has been chosen with respect to another 12 accused persons.

70 criminal cases on 80 persons have been sent to court. Out of the
indicated number, court decisions have been taken on 29 cases on 32
persons: 11 persons have been sentenced to 1-5 years’ imprisonment,
21 persons received suspended sentences and have been put on probation,
and 2 accused persons have been acquitted.

Another 13 criminal cases on 13 persons have been separated into
proceedings and sent to various courts.
