RA President Sezrh Sargsyan assessed the actions of the law
enforcement structures investigating March 1-2 events in Yerevan. As
the presidential press service told ArmInfo today, during the working
conference dedicated to the course of fulfillment of the provisions
of PACE Resolution N 1609 ‘On Functioning of Democratic Institutes in
Armenia>, RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan told the country’s
president that 46 out of 115 arrested, accused of participation
in mass disorders, have already been set free. ‘I encourage such
approaches. However, those who committed a grave crime, should
undergo punishment’, the president said. He thinks that in case if
participants in mass disorders realize all the seriousness of their
guilt and appeal to the relevant agencies, indulgence may be applied
to them>, S. Sargsyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
