CIS Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary, General
Nikolai Bordyuzha, will visit Yerevan, the capital of Armenia,
on July 21-23. Bordyuzha and the Armenian leadership intend to
discuss the matters Armenia will address as the Organization’s next
chair-in-office.
What reports are available indicate that Bordyuzha will "meet with
the leadership of the Republic of Armenia to discuss preparations for
meetings of bodies of the CIS Collective Security Treaty Organization
and CIS Collective Security Council scheduled for August and September,
ones where Armenia will assume the post of chair-in-office."
Phase one of the joint command post exercise Border’2008 will take
place in Armenia on July 22. Phases one and two are actually political,
needed to enable the CIS Collective Security Treaty Organization
in general and its members to decide what is to be done to allay
the tension fomented in the collective security zone by destructive
forces. In other words, phases one and two are about attempts to find
a political solution to the situation.
