ARA SAHAKIAN AFFIRMS THAT "THIRD POLITICAL POLE" IS CREATED ESPECIALLY FOR STRUGGLING AGAINST LEVON TER-PETROSIAN

The Constitutional Law Union, the Liberal-Progressive Party of
Armenia, the Christian-Democratic Union of Armenia, the National
Self-Determination Union, and the United Communist Party of Armenia
are holding consultations to create a pole of opposition forces in
the near future. CLU Chairman Hayk Babukhanian said at the July 29
dispute. According to him, the above mentioned parties have been in the
opposition sphere for nearly 20 years and today they enjoy confidence
among 60% people. According to H. Babukhanian, power shift is not the
first and foremost task for the pole to be created: the most important
goal is to resist domestic and foreign challenges of the country.
According to him, today some traitorous forces uniting around first
President Levon Ter-Petrosian have split the nation. These forces,
according to H. Babukhanian, consider that it is only them who are
the real opposition, and it is a "manifestation of Fascism." He
also expressed discontent that some young people – participants of
People’s Movement have compiled "black lists" of undesirable figures
in Internet, in which his name was also mentioned.
According to Ara Sahakian, the former RA National Assembly
Vice-Speaker, it is no secret for anyone that the third pole is
created especially for struggling against L. Ter-Petrosian. "And it
is clear that if someone names himself a patriot, he should consider
the other one a "traitor," he said.
According to A. Sahakian, it is a pity that Khosrov Haroutiunian,
the Chairman of the Christian-Democratic Union of Armenia, who
"was only the director of textile goods factory," today has got a
reputation of a patriot, while "great scientist, doctor of philology,
