Special Charter Plane to Bring Slovaks Back From Georgia

Bratislava/Tbilisi, August 10 (TASR-SLOVAKIA) – Slovakia is to respond
to the conflict between Russia and Georgia in South Ossetia by sending
a charter plane to Georgia to bring its citizens home, SLOVAKIA was
told by Foreign Affairs Ministry press department director Igor Skocek
on Sunday.

The aircraft is due to depart for the Armenian capital Yerevan later
on Sunday, as the airport in the Georgian capital Tbilisi is currently
closed. Eleven Slovak citizens in Georgia have already expressed their
desire to leave.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry is in continual telephone contact with
Slovak citizens in Georgia and their relatives in Slovakia. A crisis
phone line was receiving calls all night, said Skocek.

A crisis-management meeting on the ongoing conflict in South Ossetia
chaired by Foreign Affairs Ministry State Secretary Olga Algayerova
was held at the ministry on Friday.
