ArmInfo. ‘The war between Georgia and Russia first of all directly
affected Armenia in the economic sense as about 70% of shipment is
implemented via the territory of Georgia. According to some accounts,
it did several million dollars harm to the Armenian economy’, –
director of ‘Politekonomia" research institute Andranik Tevanyan told
ArmInfo correspondent.
He also added that from the point of view of the political processes
and consequences Armenia is first of all interested in this conflict
through the prism of Nagornyy Karabakh conflict. ‘On the other hand,
the war in South Ossetia warded off potential war in Karabakh, since
if Georgia managed to do blitzkrieg, similar actions could be expected
from Azerbaijan as well’, – Tevanyan concluded.
