Baku, 17 September: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov
met the European Union commissioner on external affairs and foreign
policy, Benito Ferrero-Waldner, on 17 September within the framework
of his visit to Brussels, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign
Ministry has told Day.az.

According to the source, the sides exchanged views on the
implementation of an action plan between the European Union and
Azerbaijan within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy,
the current relations between the EU and Azerbaijan, regional
processes, the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and energy security.

Speaking about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan,
the minister said that the conflict could be resolved within the
framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. For her part,
Ferrero-Waldner pointed out that the European Union unequivocally
supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Moreover, Mammadyarov raised a question on the simplification of the
visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens. The EU official was positive
about this issue and promised to look into it.
