/PanARMENIAN.Net/ To ensure security and combat illegal migration,
the French Embassy in Yerevan will introduce a biometric visa process
from October 6, 2008.

All persons who appealed for visa will have to attend the Embassy and
produce a digital photo. They will also be fingerprinted, Mr. Jackie
Charotte, French Consul in Armenia, told reporters today.

"This system has already been introduced in 20 French Embassies,
including Georgia. It will be introduced in 50 more Embassies from
2009. Such system functions in the British, U.S. and Bulgarian
Embassies," he said, adding that the new system will not cause extra
inconveniences but will help struggling illegal migration.

According to official data, some 1400 people illegally migrated from
Armenia to France last year.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
