/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Festivities dedicated to Yerevan’s 2790th birthday
will be held in Armenia October 10-11.

"The solemn opening ceremony will take place in the National Theater
of Opera and Ballet on October 10. Exhibitions and concerts will be
organized. Guests from Iran, Georgia, Russian, Kazakhstan, Moldova
and Latvia will arrive in Yerevan," said Vano Vardanyan, Deputy Mayor
of Yerevan.

The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC, with the
founding of the Urartian fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC at the western
extremity of the Ararat plain. It has been the capital of Armenia
since 1918 and the twelfth in the history of Armenia.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
