TIGRAN SARKISYAN: THE RELATIONS BETWEEN ARMENIA AND RUSSIA ENTER NEWS STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT

ArmInfo. The relations between Armenia and Russia enter news stage
of development, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisyan said in
Yerevan today after ending of the work of the Russian-Armenian
Inter-governmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
He also added they signed the protocol of the session which made
conclusions on the implemented work and pointed at the directions and
tasks of the economic cooperation between Armenia and Russia for the
near future.
Armenian premier said that at present they have managed to extend
cooperation frames up to humanitarian problems. They have managed
to set a dialogue in the sphere of TV programmes at the present
session. He also said it is very much important that representatives
of business sphere are present at the sessions of inter-governmental
commissions. "Our main task is to create favourable atmosphere for
business development", – Tigran Sarkisyan said.
For his part, co-chair of the inter-governmental commission, Russian
Transport Minister Igor Levitin said the commission has become an
effective instrument for business development and supporting. He
also added that almost all the task put against the commission were
fulfilled over a year, and one of the most successful is the project
on functioning of the ferry service between Armenia and Russia. "The
ferry service has a stable regular regime – once in a week and this is
evidence of the reliable transport corridor", – Levitin said. He also
added general volume of the accumulated Russian investments in the
Armenian economy is about $1,7 bln and is still growing year by year.
