Establishment of the Ministry of Diaspora is of great political,
moral, psychological and national importance and national mentality
should lay in the basis of it, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan
told a press conference today.

Hranush Hakobyan noted that with the establishment of the Ministry
of Diaspora, the Armenia-Diaspora relations will comprise part of
government policy. The Ministry will keep in focus the activity
of the Diaspora and the existing problems, the reinforcement of
Armenia-Diaspora ties.

Mrs. Hakobyan noted that the main aim and mission of the Ministry is
to work out and implement programs of development of Armenia-Diaspora
cooperation, improvement of Armenia’s international rating, as well
as contribute to the realization of all-Armenian educational programs,
preservation and development of the cultural heritage, reinforcement of
the Armenian national identity, repatriation of world-spread Armenians,
pilgrimage of Armenian youth to Armenia.

"The Ministry is home to Diaspora Armenians: the Diaspora Armenian
should know that he has a place where he can get assistance in solving
the existing problems. We are not going to rule the Diaspora. Being
a state governance body, we will cooperate, dispute and debate, and
then decide. We must be sure that the Diaspora can be strong, can
remain Armenian if Armenia is powerful. Diaspora Armenians will also
work at agency, this is everyone’s Ministry," Hranush Halobyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
