Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev-APA. Milli Majlis, (Azerbaijani Parliament)
held the next meeting of its autumn session on Friday.

At the beginning lawmaker Yagub Mahmudov, Director of the Institute of
History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, said that Chairman
of Azerbaijan Cinematograph Union writer Rustam Ibrahimbeyov showed
indignity toward Azerbaijani People in his interview with Russian
Pravda.ru. Mahmudov said that Ibrahimbeyov noted that when Armenians
left Baku, the city’s elite disappeared.

The lawmaker said he acutely protested Ibrahimbeyov, who showed
partiality to Armenians in his interview. "Azerbaijan has no concern
with that he makes movie with Armenians. I do not recognize such
Azerbaijani intellectual". Mahmudov said they had to take measure
against Ibrahimbeyov.

Discussion of the issues on the agenda was stopped and most of
lawmakers began to express opinion about this issue.

Bakhtiyar Aliyev, Fazail Ibrahimli and Asaf Hajiyev expressed concern
over Ibrahimbeyov’s interview and demanded the Parliament to react
to this issue. Lawmaker Nizami Jafarov said that Ibrahimbeyov should
apologize to Azerbaijani People and his interview was not accidentally.

Then Speaker Ogtay Asadov interrupted the speeches and asked the
lawmakers to pass to the discussion of the issues on the agenda. The
speaker said that Armenians would abuse this interview. "I consider
Azerbaijani People are elite as a whole. The intellectuals of the
people are those, who were with Azerbaijan in the difficult time".

THE speaker did not allow Akram Aylisli, who said it needed in
alternative word, and other lawmakers to deliver speeches more. Asadov
said if there was a need they would hold additional discussions at
the end of the meeting.

Rustam Ibrahimbeyov’s brother Magsud Ibrahimbeyov also attended the
Parliament’s meeting.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
