/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday that
his recent visit to Armenia took place to create a new climate between
Turkey and Armenia.

Speaking to reporters at a reception held at the Cankaya Palace to
celebrate the Turkish Republic Day, President Gul said that "the new
climate will eradicate problems in relations with Armenia."

"Everyone must support this climate. I am hopeful. I expect good
developments," Gul said, the Anatolian News Agency reports.

Gul was in Yerevan on September 6 to watch a World Cup qualifier
between the Armenian and Turkish national soccer teams.

Before the match, Presidents of Armenia and Turkey said their meeting
will encourage a dialogue between the two countries.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
