ATOM EGOYAN, NEW BOARD MEMBER

Atom Egoyan is the most recent addition to the Honorary Board of the
Civilitas Foundation.
Mr. Egoyan, an independent Canadian filmmaker, has directed a dozen
full-length feature films, operas, several television episodes, and a
few shorter pieces. His best-known work was the Sweet Hereafter (1997),
which landed him two Academy Award nominations as well as the Grand
Prize of the Jury from the Cannes Film Festival. The film Ararat, the
first major motion picture to deal directly with the Armenian Genocide,
won the Best Picture prize at the Genie Awards and the Golden Apricot
at the Yerevan International Film Festival. Mr. Egoyan is a seven-time
recipient of Canada’s top Genie Awards. His latest motion picture,
Adoration, was a Cannes Film Festival Grand Prize nominee and Toronto
Film Festival Grand Prize winner in 2008.
