EXPORTS FROM ARMENIA GROW BY 0.4%, IMPORTS INTO COUNTRY GROW BY 43% IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER 2008 ON SAME PERIOD OF 2007

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. In January-September 2008, the
foreign trade of Armenia made 1 trillion 210.1 billion drams or 3 bln
959.1 mln USD, including exports of 254.4 bln drams or 832.5 mln USD
and imports of 955.7 bln drams or 3 bln 126.6 mln USD. The foreign
trade balance was negative by 701.3 bln drams (2 bln 246.4 mln USD),
the foreign trade balance without cargos received as humanitarian
aid was negative by 686.6 bln drams.

According to the RA National Statsitical Service, exports grew by 0.4%,
imports – by 43% in January-September 2008 on the same months of 2007.

Exports from Armenia to CIS countries amounted to 254 mln 204.7
thousand USD in January-September 2008, increasing by 1.3% on the same
period of last year, while imports from CIS countries into Armenia
made 804 mln 499.8 thousand USD, growing by 30.1%.

Exports to countries of the European Union made 466 mln 852.2 thousand
USD in January-September 2008, growing by 15.5% on January-September
2007, while imports from EU countries made 832 mln 324.8 thousand USD,
growing by 22.8%.

Exports from Armenia to other countries (besides CIS and EU countries)
amounted to 111 mln 420.5 thousand USD (45.9% decline), imports from
other countries made 1 bln 489 mln 825.8 thousand USD (67.3% growth)
in January-September 2008.
