"Russia will play a key role in the issue of the resolution of the
Karabakh conflict", considers chairman of the National Assembly of
Armenia Ovuk Abramyan.

"The participation of Russia and, in particular, its president Dmitri
Medvedev, will play a key role in the settlement of the Karabakh
problem", he said Monday at the meeting with speaker of the Federation
Council Sergey Mironov.

Abramyan voiced confidence that the recent agreements, attained
by the heads of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia on the conflict in
Nagorno Karabakh, are "an important step in the peaceful resolution
of this problem".

Notably, the cooperation between Russia and Armenia is of positive
nature. Abramyan paid attention to the fact that he pays his
first visit to Russia after being elected the head of the Armenian
parliament.

"I am confident that our meeting will become a new starting point
in the development of the Russian-Armenian interparliamentary
cooperation", added he.

In turn, Mironov announced that the relations between Russia and
Armenia are developing in the direction of strategic friendly
partnership.

"The recent visit of Russian President Dmitri Medvedev to Armenia
proves the interest in the development of our relations", said he.

During the meeting the sides touched upon such an issue as a growing
number of crimes on the interethnic basis in Russia. Mironov stressed
the need to hold works to prevent such crimes.
