"The 15th international exhibition of the press and news agencies"
continues its works in the Iranian capital Tehran. One of the most
interesting meetings in the framework of the exhibition was the
meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on
November 19. The Minister met and answered the questions of the
journalists from 27 countries.

To the question of "Azg" daily, "How does the Iranian side treat the
Turkish initiative to create a South-Caucasian Platform of Peace,
and is it possible without participation of Tehran?" Manouchehr
Mottaki mentioned, "South Caucasus is a very sensitive region, and
the actions of not neighboring countries do not contribute but only
hinder the stability in the region".

He underlined that it is important to Tehran to have good relations
with the South-Caucasian countries, and what Iran wants is stability
and peace in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Mottaki mentioned that the region is contiguous to Iran; consequently,
any development (probably he had in view the initiative of the Turkish
side) is impossible without Iran’s participation.

However, the Minister avoided direct answer making it clear that the
Iranian side will continue to stir up its role in the region.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
