YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. In the Junior Eurovision 2008 song
contest held on November 22 in Cyprus Monika Manucharova representing
Armenia with the song The Sound of My Song took the 8th place. The
Bzikebi group representing Georgia won the contest. The Ukraine took
the second place and Lithuania the third place.

It should be mentioned that this was Armenia’s second participation in
Junior Eurovision. Last year the Arevik children’s ensemble of Public
Television and Radio took the second place with the song Dream being
inferior to Belarus by only one point.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
