ALIYEV URGES AZERI DIASPORA TO BE MORE ACTIVE

The Azeri diaspora outside Azerbaijan should actively and promptly
counter informational provocations targeted against Azerbaijan, said
president Ilham Aliyev.

Our people are facing the goal of the soonest possible and fair
settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the restoration of the
country’s territorial integrity. I believe that, along with the Azeri
state, all our compatriots should redouble their efforts to help
consolidate the country’s positive image. The diaspora should step up
its organization and flexibility, expand ties with the diaspora
centers of other nations, and promptly counter informational
provocations targeted against our country, Aliyev said in a greeting
letter on the occasion of Day of Solidarity of Azeris in the World
observed on December 31.

The Azeri governmental policy toward the diaspora, the growing
solidarity of the compatriots, and their organization have entered a
new phase of development, the president’s letter says.

Azeris are playing an increasingly more active role in socioeconomic,
sociopolitical, and cultural affairs of the countries where they live
and manifesting their integrity in preventing ideological provocations
by Armenian circles and telling the international community the truth
about Azerbaijan, it says.

Aliyev also called on his compatriots abroad to further consolidate
and render their assistance in defending Azerbaijan’s interests and
upgrading its international image.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
