Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has said that Baku
is waiting for Moscow’s reply over the arms supply to Armenia.

The minister recalled at a briefing on Wednesday that he discussed
this issue with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov a few days ago
and now Baku is waiting for a formal response from Moscow, which the
Russian ambassador in Azerbaijan said is currently being prepared.

"They [the Russian authorities] promised that the reply will follow
shortly, and we expect to receive it sometime this week," Mammadyarov
said.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry earlier confirmed several media reports
about Russia’s military aid to Armenia in late 2008 worth $800 million
and said that this fact damages the Karabakh peace process and Moscow’s
peacekeeping mission in this conflict resolution.

Meanwhile, Russia’s defense and foreign ministries denied earlier
the reports and the supply of weapons to Armenia.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
