Baku-APA. It is a legend occurred during Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict
that Stepan Shahumian along with other commissars were executed by a
firing squad in Akhcha-Kuymaand taken to India by Englishmen, Tatyana
Shahumian, grandchild of Shahumian gave an interview to Kommersant
newspaper, APA reports.

Tatiana, Head of Research Center on India at the Institute of Oriental
Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences stated that researches were
carried out on kidnapping of his grandfather to India.

‘Orientalist Leonid Mitrokhin proved that these reports were
false. After shooting to death in Akhcha-Kuymaand, there could happen
everything during two years when Baku commissars were buried in
Baku. It is impossible that all of them were not buried in Baku. There
is a documentary film about the bodies in archive. Moreover,
my grandmother and other relatives participated in the funeral,"
she added.

Tatian commented on 23 bodies pulled out from the grave.

"If there are not bodies of three commissars in the grave, it can
happen after 1920. Stalin hated my grandfather. Mirjafar Bagirov,
Secretary of the Central Committee of Azerbaijan Communist Party
wanted to bring about repression against our family in Moscow and
tried to prove that we were enemies of Azerbaijanis", she added.

Baku Mayor’s Office reported that 23 bodies were found during
destruction of monument in Sahil Park.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
