HIGH-RANKED ARMENIAN OFFICIALS VISITED YERABLUR ON THE OCCASION OF THE 17TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE ARMENIAN ARMED FORCES

YEREVAN, JANUARY 28, ARMENPRESS: Armenian National Assembly Speaker
Hovik Abrahamyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, chairman of the
Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunian, high-ranked officers headed
by the Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian visited today Yerablur on
the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the formation of Armenian
Armed Forces.

The high-ranked officials put flowers on the tombs of Commander Vazgen
Sargsyan, Andranik Ozanyan and a wreath on the memorial to the people
who lost their lives in Artsakh war.

Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian told the reporters that he is proud
today as the Armenian people have a regular army which it did not have
for years. According to him, today all the Armenian people celebrate
the Day of Armenian Army which is one of the important values the
Armenian people acquired during their history.

"I want to congratulate our people, wish success and express gratitude
to each person who contributed to the formation of today’s army,"
S. Ohanian noted.

According to the minister, today the Armenian army is implementing its
mission and is protecting the borders of Armenia and Artsakh. Currently
relevant events are carried out to ensure development of the Armenian
army.

"One of the most important issue in the recent year is the
implementation of reforms. Certain reforms are necessary so that we
may ensure the further development of the army and make it correspond
to the contemporary progressive standards," Seyran Ohanian said.

"As a defense minister I have to do a long-lasting and difficult work
to be able to reach all the goals which the army and the Supreme
General Commander, President of Armenia forwarded," the defense
minister said.
