ARMENIAN PRODUCERS START EXPORTING PRODUCTION TO EUROPEAN UNION WITHIN THE FRAMES OF GSP+ SOFT REGIME

ArmInfo. Armenian producers have started exporting production to
European Union within the frames of General System of Preferences
Plus [GSP+] soft regime, Deputy Economy Minister Mushegh Tumasyan
told journalists today.
‘We still does not have specific statistics about the number of the
‘priviledged’ goods having been exported since the beginning of
the year.
But we hope their volume will grow permanently’, – he said. Deputy
minister also said that thanks to the new system Armenia will get an
opportunity of exporting about 6400 items of goods to the countries
of European Union, chiefly food products and tobacco. In particular,
the custom rates for tobacco was reduced by 52%, natural juice –
by 30%, fruits – by 20%, vegetables – by 14%, fish products – by 20%
and honey – by 17%. ‘We have managed to transfer to the soft regime
as totally we ratified 27 international UN and International Labor
Organization conventions regarding organization of labor, human rights
and environment’, – Tumasyan said.
He also added that GSP+ will be applied only regarding the goods
produced in Armenia, but not for the re-export.
