Armenian President Has Bilateral Meetings In Davos

ARMENIAN PRESIDENT HAS BILATERAL MEETINGS IN DAVOS

DAVOS, JANUARY 29, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan,
who is on a visit to Davos in connection with the World Economic
Forum, had a meeting with the Director General of the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mohammad Al Baradei on January 29. During
the meeting the sides expressed satisfaction at the current level of
cooperation between Armenia and IAEA. Issues related to construction
of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia were discussed. M. Al Baradei
underlined the importance of the steps that Armenian authorities
have taken so far for constructing a new power unit and expressed
a willingness to provide expert assistance for the program’s
implementation at various stages.

On the same day the Armenian president met with the President of the
Asian Development Bank (ADB) Haruhiko Kuroda. S. Sargsian expressed
satisfaction at the ADB’s assistance to Armenia in management sector
and infrastructure development, noting that he is hopeful that this
cooperation will continue in the future.

Haruhiko Kuroda stated that the Asian Development Bank is interested
in developing its long-term relations with Armenia, attaching special
importance to the efficient use of all available instruments.

According to the RA presidential press service, on the same day
S. Sargsyan also had meetings with the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin, the President of the Swiss Confederation Hans-Rudolf Merz. His
meeting with the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is
scheduled to take place later in the evening.
