ARMENIA PM, GEORGIA’S PARLAIMENT SPEAKER DISCUSS BILATRAL TIES

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Tigran Sargsyan, today received
the President of the Georgian Parliament, David Bakradze, and his
delegation.
The Armenian Prime Minister and the President of the Georgian
Parliament are assured that the development of cooperation between the
legislative bodies of Armenia and Georgia will greatly contribute
to the expansion and deepening of economic relations between
the two countries, the active collaboration between the executive
bodies. According to the interlocutors, in case necessity legislative
field is ensured, the governments will have an opportunity to call
to life a number of agreements reached between the Presidents of
Armenia and Georgia, as well as the decisions of the intergovernmental
commission.
"We want the Armenian-Georgian economic and political relations to
grow and expand year by year. What is good for Armenia’s economy
is god for Georgia, and is simultaneously profitable with regard to
regional cooperation," David Bakradze said and expressed willingness
on behalf of the parliament of his country to maximally promote the
development of economic ties.
The Armenian Prime Minister and the Georgian Parliament Speaker
attached special importance to Asian Development Bank-supported project
of construction of the North-South highway. Reference was made to
the establishment of a join t custom-house based on international
experience: the project has already been approved by both parties,
but it is necessary to accelerate the process.
During the meeting PM Tigran Sargsyan raised the issue connected
with the Church of St. Norashen in Tbilisi. The Prime Minister was
interested in what stage the solution of the issue was and what
the perspectives were. David Bakradze said the dialogue between the
Armenian and Georgian Churches, and a common position formed as a
result of that dialogue is very important to his country. He underlined
that Georgia is interested in solving the issue without politicizing
it, expressing confidence that Armenia keeps to the same approach.
The interlocutors discussed the process of demarcation of the state
border between Armenia and Georgia.
