COST OF EXPORT RAIL TRANSIT OF CEMENT DOWN 30% IN ARMENIA

ARKA
March 2, 2009

YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. The cost of export rail transit of cement
has been reduced by 30% provided the traffic is guaranteed.

The press service of the South-Caucasian Railway CJSC reported that
the cost of transportation was reduced as a result of discussions of
the terms of transportation for 2009. The terms were agreed between
the South-Caucasian Railway Company and the Armenian cement producers.

A 10% discount is in effect for fixed-route transportation of raw
materials.

Also, as a result of cooperation with the Georgian Railways, the
South-Caucasian Railway Company plans to reduce the cost of container
traffic.

Although the South-Caucasian Railway CJSC is currently operating
in the red, amid the rising prices for the main energy resources,
the company management decided to implement a flexible tariff policy
to temper the impact of the global economic crisis on the Armenian
economy and support Armenian exporters, the report says.

The South-Caucasian Railway CJSC is concession manager of the Armenian
Railway Company. South-Caucasian Railway, fully owned by the Russian
Railways Company, listed in its fixed assets the rolling stock of
the Armenian Railways on June 1, 2008, under a concession contract
of February 13, 2008.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
