Washington

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ U.S. President Barack Obama’s impending visit to
Turkey weakens the possibility of Washington’s recognition of the
Armenian Genocide, Hurriyet Daily News quoted diplomatic sources and
analysts as saying.
The unexpected visit underscores Turkey’s growing importance in
Obama’s new Middle East strategies, analysts suggest.
Turkey, in return, should move soon to boost relations with Armenia,
including taking steps to set up diplomatic relations and open the
land border, they say.
`In this case, Obama will say it’s not right time to get involved in
the genocide issue because Turkey and Armenia are close to
reconciliation,’ a Turkish expert supposes.
During his election campaign last year, Obama said that, as President,
he will recognize the Armenian Genocide.
